The project “Digital History of Virtual museums” was started in 2019 by Associate Professor Nadezhda Povroznik as a visiting researcher supported by the Centre for Contemporary and Digital History (C2DH) at the University of Luxembourg, in 2020-2022 the project maintained in collaboration with the Center for Digital Humanities at Perm State University. Since 2023 it is hosted in the FG Humanities Data Science and Methodology in the Institute for History (Institut für Geschichte) at the Technische Universität Darmstadt (Germany).
This project focuses on the study of the history of virtual museums, highlighting stages of their development in the digital age. Based on a study of snapshots of virtual museums stored in web archives, it investigates the key characteristics of virtual museums and data modeling for analyzing resources as a form of online history.
